Greetings and Bio

Hello,

bob_at_whiting_river_sm.jpg I created this web site to provide a centralized access point to various aspects of my life that I would like to share with folks over the internet. The main sections of this site are Work Life and Personal Life. You can explore those sections of the site with the menu at left or at the top. You can contact me via the contact me link (duh).

For starters, here is a bit of bio that I copied from the SEAWEAD website:

I am the founder and president of SEAWEAD and Living Systems Design. I consider myself a solid outdoorsman who has a strong background in naturalist and scientific fieldwork. I have worked as an intertidal field technician, stream monitoring liason, a cave explorer, a fisheries technician, a kayak guide, a backcountry ranger, a research camp manager, GIS technician, a wilderness guide, and most often as a wildlife researcher. I have solo-paddled over 2,000 miles of the inside passage and outer-coast of southeast Alaska and British Columbia in skin on frame boats of my own construction.

I integrated outdoor experiences with natural/social science course-work for a B.S. in Environmental Science at Huxley College in Bellingham, Washington. In addition to my skills as a field naturalist I have developed considerable expertise in computer technology where I create GIS Maps, manipulate digital photography and video, layout technical reports, newsletters and posters, and provide web site support for a variety of individuals and organizations.

me_dad_sm.jpg I enjoy hunting, fishing, photography, kayaking, camping, bushwacking, splitting wood, travelling (though i do it seldom) and hanging out with my friends and family. Most of my family lives in the Puget Sound area and I spent a lot of time there while growing up. Most of my friends live in the Puget Sound area, Spokane (grew up there), Anchorage, Juneau, Portland and Bellingham but I have a few more scattered about the world. I recently participated in an International conservation GIS group and made some friends with some very fine folks from South America, Africa, Indonesia, Asia, Russia and Northern Europe. I hope to visit a few of them in the future.

At this point I am pretty grounded in Southeast Alaska. I have made my home in Wilderness near Glacier Bay Alaska since 1997.

P.S. - Why the BCIII logo? Because I am the third Bob Christensen in my family. Grandfather and and Father are BCs also. Kinda like royalty
